How to pronounce the letter 'z'

Nella lingua italiana, le parole che contengono la lettera z non sono molto frequenti. Tuttavia è importante che vengano pronunciate correttamente perché un errore nel suono aspro o dolce della 'zeta', conferisce, a volte, una connotazione ridicola alla parola e a tutta la frase.

- Il suono |tz| è detto 'duro' o 'aspro' o 'forte'. È pronunciato con forza, in un'unica emissione di voce, senza vibrazione delle corde vocali.

  Esempio: marzo (mars), zazzera (tignasse), spruzzo (éclaboussure).

- Il suono |ʒ| è detto 'dolce' o 'sonoro'. È pronunciato con minor forza e con vibrazione delle corde vocali.

  Esempio: manzo (bœuf), garza (gaze), romanzo (roman).
