    Per prima cosa, la strega scelie con cura la sua vitima. Poi la segue silenziosamente, come un caciatore che fa la posta a un uccellino, nel folto di un bosco. Cammina a passi felpati, piano, sensa rumore. Si avicina a poco a poco, sempre di più. Ecco, ora è pronto. E zum! piomba sulla preda! Volano cintille, crepitano le fiamme, l ' oglio bollente borbotta, la pelle si ragrinza. E il bambino non c ' è più.
    Cercate di capire : una strega non pichia i bambini e neppure li sbudella a coltellate, né li uccide a colpi di pistola. La gente che si comporta così, prima o poi viene arrestata dalla polizia.
